Editorial policy

How we choose topics, research and write articles, check facts, keep things up to date and correct mistakes.

ConnectionCafe.com is an online technology and lifestyle content resource. Our job is to publish plain-language articles, tech guides and lifestyle blog posts that readers can trust and act on. This policy explains how we do that. It applies to every article on the site.

1. Choosing what to write about

Topics come from real questions: the problems people search for, the questions readers send us, and the everyday frustrations of living with technology. We prioritise subjects where a clear, careful answer is genuinely useful, and we avoid writing about something just because it is trending.

2. Research and sources

  • Tech guides are checked against official documentation from device and software makers (such as Apple, Google and Microsoft support pages) and trusted public guidance, such as the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre.
  • Lifestyle and wellbeing posts share general, practical habits. Anything touching on health points to reliable sources such as the NHS and encourages readers to speak to a qualified professional.
  • We link to sources so readers can check them, and we prefer primary, official sources over other blogs.
  • We do not invent statistics, studies, quotes or “experts”. If we cannot support a claim, we leave it out.

3. How we write

  • Lead with the answer. Most articles open with a short summary before the detail.
  • Explain jargon the first time it appears, in a single plain sentence.
  • Cover the main platforms — Windows, macOS, Android and iPhone — where the steps differ, and describe what to look for rather than relying on menu paths that change between versions.
  • Keep it as long as it needs to be, and no longer.

4. Review and updates

Every article shows the date it was first published. When we make a meaningful change — new steps, revised advice, a correction — the article shows an updated date as well. We review articles when the underlying technology or guidance changes, and remove or rewrite advice that no longer holds.

5. Corrections

We try hard to get things right, and we fix mistakes quickly when we do not. If you spot an error, email editor@connectionscafes.com with the article link and what you think is wrong. Substantive corrections are reflected in the article’s updated date.

6. Independence, advertising and affiliate links

Nobody pays to be mentioned on ConnectionCafe.com, and editorial decisions are made by the editorial team alone. If the site carries advertising or affiliate links in future, they will be clearly disclosed and will never decide what we recommend. See our disclaimer for details.

7. Use of AI tools

We may use software tools, including AI writing assistants, to help with research, outlining and editing. Every article is reviewed by a person on the editorial team, checked against the sources described above and edited for accuracy and clarity before it is published. Responsibility for what we publish stays with us.

8. Who is behind the site

ConnectionCafe.com is written and edited by the ConnectionCafe.com editorial team. Read more on the about page, or get in touch.
