Cookie Policy
A short, honest account of what this website stores on your device — which is very little.
We run a cafe, not an advertising business. This website currently sets only strictly necessary cookies — the ones that make the enquiry form work and keep the site secure. There is no Google Analytics, no Meta pixel, no advertising network and no cross-site tracking of any kind. The one third party involved is Google Fonts, which serves the two typefaces you are reading. This page explains what cookies are, what each category would do, and how to take control of them in your browser.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. When you come back, the browser hands the file back and the site can recognise the same device. Cookies can be useful — they keep you logged in and stop a form being submitted twice — and they can be intrusive, when advertising networks use them to build a profile of everywhere you have been. The same rules apply to similar technologies such as local storage, session storage and tracking pixels, and where we mention cookies below we mean those too.
Cookies set by ConnectionCafe.com are first-party cookies. Anything set by a different domain while you are on our site is a third-party cookie.
What this site actually sets
At the time of writing, the only cookies placed by ConnectionCafe.com are strictly necessary ones. They carry no name, email address or booking detail, they are not shared with anyone, and under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations they do not require your consent because the site cannot work without them. Everything else in the table below is listed so you know what we would be telling you about if it ever changed.

Third-party content on this site
Google Fonts
The headings and body text here are set in Fraunces and Inter, which we load from Google's font service rather than serving ourselves. When your browser fetches those files it connects to fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com, which means Google receives the request and your IP address as part of it. Google states that the font service does not set cookies and does not use the requests for advertising, but the connection is still a third-party one and you should know it happens. If you block those domains the site still works — it simply falls back to your system fonts.
Maps, video and social embeds
We deliberately do not embed an interactive map, a video player or a social media feed on any page, because each of those would drop third-party cookies before you had a chance to decide. Our directions section links out to a map instead of embedding one, and our social links are plain links. If we ever add an embed, it will sit behind a click-to-load placeholder and this page will be updated first.
Payments and bookings
Card payments and room reservations are completed on our payment and booking providers' own secure pages. Those pages set their own strictly necessary cookies to keep your transaction safe, governed by their policies rather than this one. What we do and do not see of a payment is set out in our privacy policy.
If we ever add analytics
We may one day want to know whether people read the roastery page or bounce straight to the menu. If we do, we will choose a privacy-respecting, cookieless analytics tool where we can, publish it in the table above before switching it on, and ask for your consent through a banner where consent is required. We will not add advertising or remarketing tags.
How to control cookies in your browser
You do not need our permission to refuse cookies — your browser already gives you the controls. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop the enquiry form submitting, but nothing else on this site will break.
- Google Chrome: Settings, then Privacy and security, then Third-party cookies and Site settings.
- Safari (macOS): Safari menu, then Settings, then Privacy — tick Prevent cross-site tracking, or Manage Website Data to clear individual sites.
- Safari (iOS/iPadOS): Settings app, then Apps, then Safari, then Block All Cookies or Clear History and Website Data.
- Mozilla Firefox: Settings, then Privacy and Security, then Enhanced Tracking Protection and Cookies and Site Data.
- Microsoft Edge: Settings, then Cookies and site permissions, then Manage and delete cookies and site data.
- Any browser: a private or incognito window discards all cookies when you close it.
Most browsers also let you clear cookies for one site only, which is the tidiest option if you want to reset ConnectionCafe.com without logging out of everywhere else.
Changing a consent choice
Because this site currently uses no cookies that require consent, there is no consent banner and nothing to withdraw. If we introduce analytics, preference or marketing cookies, a banner will appear on your first visit with a genuine reject option given the same prominence as accept, and a link in the footer will let you reopen those settings and change your mind at any time. Clearing your cookies for this site will also reset any stored choice, so the banner will ask again.
