Send us a booking or an enquiry
One form for everything: a table, a room, the back room, a press request, or a question that fits nowhere else. The more you tell us in the message box, the fewer emails it takes to sort out.
- Tables. Two or three people rarely need to book. Four or more, or weekend brunch between 11am and 2pm, is worth reserving.
- Rooms. Give us your dates and we confirm by email from stay@connectionscafes.com. Rates, room sizes and what is included are set out on the stay page.
- Private hire. Tell us the headcount, the date and whether you want food, then read the back-room notes further down this page.
- Allergies. Put them in the message. Our kitchen handles wheat flour every day, so we cannot promise a coeliac-safe plate, and we would rather say so now than at the table.

Look for a wide timber shopfront painted deep green, three planters on the pavement and a hand-painted sign on the glass. We are on the quieter side of Kiln Street, roughly halfway along, with a bike rack directly outside and the black street door to the guest rooms immediately to the right of the cafe entrance. If you reach the railway arches you have gone about eighty metres too far.
By train and Tube
Shoreditch High Street is a six-minute walk on the Overground, and Liverpool Street, for the Elizabeth line and mainline services, is about ten. Old Street is roughly fifteen minutes on foot if you are coming down from the north. Check live running with Transport for London before you set off, especially at weekends when the Overground often closes for engineering work.
By bus, bike and car
Several routes stop within four minutes on the main road at the end of the street. There are two Sheffield stands outside the cafe and a larger rack beside the arches, and we will happily keep an eye on a bike while you eat. Driving is the hard way to do it: there is no car park, the surrounding streets are permit-only during the day, and the whole area sits inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone.
Step-free access
The cafe entrance is level with the pavement and the doors open to 90cm, so the ground floor, the counter and the accessible WC are all reachable without steps. Tables can be moved, so please ask. The eight guest rooms are up a Victorian staircase with no lift, so ring us before booking a room if stairs are difficult and we will describe them honestly rather than guess on your behalf.
Groups and private hire
The back room holds 24, and we would rather you asked
Behind the main room there is a separate space with its own long table, a door that closes and enough sockets for a working session. We hold it for groups of up to 24: birthdays, launches, reading groups, team offsites, wakes and the occasional cupping class. It is not a hired hall, it is part of a working cafe, so the honest advice is that Sunday evenings and Monday mornings give you the whole room to yourselves, while a Saturday lunchtime never will.
A minimum spend applies at busy times and we quote it before you commit, not afterwards. Tell us the date, the headcount and whether you want pastries and filter on arrival, a full sit-down from the kitchen menu, or simply the room and the coffee. Writing about us, or selling to us
Journalists, photographers and guidebook editors are welcome. Send what you need and a deadline to hello@connectionscafes.com with Press in the subject line and we will reply within a working day. We keep high-resolution photographs of the bar, the basement roaster and the rooms, a short factual profile of the business, and roast dates and origin details for anything currently on the menu. Shooting on the floor is fine outside the 8am and weekend-brunch peaks, as long as you ask before pointing a camera at anyone else in the room. Growers, importers, bakers and makers: we buy green coffee through importers who publish what they pay at origin, and we would far rather see a sample and a price sheet than a brochure. Send 200g with the farm details and expect us to cup it against what we already roast before replying. Our baristas train to Specialty Coffee Association standards and are paid above the real Living Wage, and we expect the businesses we buy from to be just as straight about their own numbers. Do I need to book a table at ConnectionCafe.com?
Not for two or three people. We keep most of the 62 seats walk-in, and outside the 8am rush and the Saturday 11am to 2pm peak you will usually be seated straight away. For four or more, or for weekend brunch, use the enquiry form on this page or ring us and we will hold a table for fifteen minutes past your time.
Can you take a group of more than six people?
Yes. Groups of seven to twelve fit along the back banquette with a day or two of notice. Anything larger means the back room, which seats up to 24 and needs booking by email with a date, a headcount and a rough idea of what you want served. Sunday evenings and Monday mornings are the easiest slots to give you, and a minimum spend applies at busier times.
I think I left something at the cafe. What now?
Ring us as soon as you can. Everything handed in goes into a labelled box behind the bar and we keep it for 30 days, longer for keys, wallets, laptops and anything with a name in it. Tell us roughly when you were in and where you sat, because the team clears tables by section and that usually narrows it down in a minute. We cannot post items, but we will hold them or release them to someone you name in writing.
Are dogs allowed in the cafe or in the rooms?
Well-behaved dogs are welcome downstairs in the cafe and there is a water bowl by the door. We only ask that they stay on the floor rather than the seats, and out of the aisle the kitchen runs through. Dogs cannot come up to the guest rooms, because we let those to guests with allergies and cannot deep-clean between every stay. Registered assistance dogs are welcome everywhere, rooms included.
Is the cafe step-free, and where are the accessible facilities?
The Kiln Street entrance is level with the pavement and the doors give 90cm of clear width, so the ground floor, the counter and the accessible WC are all step-free. The guest rooms sit on the first and second floors of a Victorian building with a staircase and no lift, so we cannot describe them as accessible. Please call before booking a room and we will be straight with you about what the stairs involve.
